Celta Vigo (xG 4.5/GF 8) have significantly overperformed their xG as Iago Aspas has been in excellent form so far. However, it’s highly unlikely they will keep up this level of consistency as the season progresses.
Real Madrid (xG 11.6/GF 15) have started the season in stellar fashion and are the only club in Europe’s top 5 leagues with a 100% record. Along with Atletico Madrid (xG 6.2/GF 9) both sides are overperforming their xG. Vinicius’s finishing has been excellent this season, while Benzema has also been clinical. For the other side from Madrid, Morata and Griezmann have been scoring consistently for Diego Simeone’s side.
Barcelona (xG 13.5/GF 15) have also surpassed their expected goals along with Getafe (xG 3.2/GF 4) and Mallorca (xG 3.3/GF 5).
Valencia (xG 6.6/GF 7), Betis (xG 7.3/ GF 8), and Girona (xG 5.2/GF 6) have all overperformed their xG slightly, while Osasuna (xG 9.2/GF 7) Espanyol (xG 6.3/ GF 6) and Villarreal (xG 9.9/GF 9) closely underperformed on their expected goals this season in the La Liga.
Sevilla (xG 7.4/GF 6) and Real Valladolid (xG 4.4/ GF 3) have also underperformed so far, while Cadiz (xG 2.6/GF 0) are the most underperforming side in La Liga.
Athletic Bilbao (xG 8.8/GF 9) are performing just above the expected numbers, while Almeria (xG 4.5/GF 4) have marginally underperformed on their xG.
