Liverpool Create Unwanted Record For English Clubs With Loss Against Napoli

In their 4-1 defeat at the hands of Napoli in their first game of the new Champions League season, Jurgen Klopp’s side faced the heaviest ever defeat a Premier League side has faced since Arsenal’s 3-0 defeat against Inter Milan. Also, this was Liverpool’s joint biggest defeat in this competition’s history.

The game underwent the worst possible start for Liverpool as James Milner gave away a penalty in the fifth minute, scored by Piotr Zieliński. Later in the first half, Liverpool conceded two more and could have conceded another, but Alisson’s penalty save kept it to 3-0 at the break.

At the start of the second half, Liverpool conceded again. This time just two minutes into the second half, which was hard to believe. Liverpool’s vulnerability to counter-attacks is getting worse instead of improving, and their next opponents in the Premier League, Wolves, are one of the best counter-attacking sides in Europe.
