Since Raphael Meade vs Panathinaikos In September 1981, Arsenal’s Marquinhos Creates New Record

After scoring Arsenal’s opening goal against FC Zurich in their first game in the Europa League this season, Marquinhos became the first player since Meade to score on his European debut.

This goal is not just huge for Marquinhos but is massive for Arteta and Arsenal as the worry about the lack of depth in the attacking positions has dropped significantly after that performance from Marquinhos.

The 19-year-old was sensational against FC Zurich. He scored the game’s opening goal, and his all-around game was excellent. He completed 4 key passes and 3 crosses and created 2 big chances. Marquinhos was involved in a stunning 7 shot-creating chances as well. The Brazilian also recorded a remarkable 9 progressive carries and 4 progressive passes against Zurich.

Quite a brilliant debut from the youngster!
