After the relentless double gameweek action of last week, we head into some normalcy with a single gameweek before another blank in gameweek 25.
In a gameweek where FPL managers will look to make plans for the upcoming blanks and doubles and beyond, we take a look at 5 such FPL players who you should keep on your radar when making your transfers.
5. James Maddison (£8.0m)
Maddison is back on the menu again. The Leicester midfielder is back fit and also amongst the goals with 2 in 2 games, along with an assist in the most recent one against Spurs who were thumped 4-1 by the Foxes. The creative midfielder is usually a popular pick, but he’s currently owned by just 4.1%, and could be a great differential. The fact that Leicester don’t blank in GW25 already makes him a reasonable pick until gameweek 27 at least.
Although Leicester face top 4 opposition in United and Arsenal up next, Maddison thrives on the bigger games. He has 3 goals and 1 assist in 5 games played against the traditional big 6. With Leicester back to winning ways and Maddison at the core of it all, more points hauls can be expected from the Englishman with better fixtures to come after GW 25 as well.
4. Ollie Watkins (£7.1m)
After a great start to Unai Emery’s reign at Villa Park, the Midlands club seem to have hit a minor stumbling block with 2 defeats in the last 2, albeit the latter being against Man City. But despite the topsy-turvy results, Watkins seems to have finally found some form. He’s gotten 3 goals and 1 assist in 3 consecutive games, scoring 27 points in the same duration.
Villa face Arsenal up next, but they are another one of just a handful of teams that do not blank in GW 25. In addition to that, they also face 4 sides from the bottom half of the table in the 4 games after their game against the Gunners. The fact that they don’t blank in GW 28 either, and could possibly have a DGW in 28 makes Villa players good options for FPL managers.
3. Maximilian Kilman (£4.4m)
Julen Lopetegui has turned Wolves’ abysmal season on its head. Since he took over, Wolves have lost just 2 of their 7 PL games, both against top 4 opposition in Man City and Man United. But more importantly through FPL lenses, they are keeping cleansheets again.
Having kept 2 cleansheets and getting an assist in his last 4 games which involved a 3-0 demolition of Liverpool, Kilman is a great pick, having scored 22 points in the same duration. With lowly Bournemouth up next along with a double gameweek in 25, Wolves assets will be in demand. Kilman is the cheapest of the bunch and has also played the most amount of minutes, making him a no-brainer at just £4.4m.
2. Jarrod Bowen (£8.0m)
West Ham have struggled so far this season, sitting just 2 points above the relegation zone. However, Moyes’ men are now unbeaten in 3, and last season’s hero Bowen seems to be getting into form at just the right time for the Hammers. Having scored 36 points since the restart, the Englishman has produced returns in every alternate game.
Judging by his record, does that mean he blanks in his next game against Spurs? We hope not. But with his renewed form and West Ham not blanking in GW 25, he’s well worth a gamble that could pay off if he continues in the same vein of form that saw him become one of the best FPL assets last season.

1. Joao Felix (£7.5m)
The loanee from Atletico Madrid has had an eventful start to his life at Chelsea, to say the least. After impressing in the first game and then being suspended for the next 3, he finally played his 2nd game at the Olympic Stadium against West Ham and notched up his first goal for the Blues in fine fashion. He was also involved in 5 of Chelsea’s 12 shots against the Hammers.
Felix was the best player on the pitch and was ever so close to scoring 2 on the day if not for a tight offside call. He got into advanced positions and looked like a threat throughout. With Chelsea also not blanking in GW 25, and their attack looking better with the Portuguese midfielder and Enzo Fernandez to feed him, getting Felix now could be a move that could keep FPL managers ahead of the curve.
