Bundesliga

Borussia Dortmund 2-2 Bayern Munich

In what was the best game of the weekend, let alone the Bundesliga, Der Klassiker lived up to its name. Both teams came into this game level on points, so the stakes were never higher.

Nagelsmann’s side arrived with 2 back to back wins for the first time since August. They even started this game in similar vein as they raced away to a 2-0 lead through Goretkza and Sane long rangers within 53 minutes, despite Dortmund producing the bulk of the chances at the other end.

However, super sub Anthony Modeste turned the game on its head. An assist to youngster Moukoko reduced the deficit by 1 goal. Modeste had a chance to level things in the 83rd minute, but fluffed a sitter from a glorious cross. Dortmund’s momentum gained further speed as Coman got sent off for a second offense leaving Bayern down to 10 men.

Despite the earlier missed chance, Modeste redeemed himself in the 95th minute with a goal that blew the roof off the Signal Iduna Park to complete a stunning comeback. With Bayern having just 1 Bundesliga win from their last 6 games, the title race is really heating up now.

Serie A

Udinese 2-2 Atalanta

Udinese seem to be in the form of their lives this season. Unbeaten since the opening day loss against Milan, I Bianconeri now sit in 3rd place, above the likes of Milan, Roma, Inter, and Juventus. Their fine form continued as they staged a great comeback from 2 goals down against Atalanta to keep their stellar run going.

Atalanta took the lead at the Dacia Arena, creating the majority of the chances in the first half. They started the second half brightly as well, with Muriel doubling the lead from the spot against his former club. But Udinese stormed back into the game with a sublime free kick from the in-form Deulofeu. An equalizer 11 minutes later sent the home crowd into raptures with the game up for grabs in the final stages.

The hosts could’ve stolen all 3 points in stoppage time with substitute Arslan shooting just wide, but they will have still been chuffed to the bits with a point in another impressive display for Udinese, which sees them just a point behind Atalanta, who are having a great season themselves.

Ligue 1

Angers 2-3 Strasbourg

Strasbourg got their first win of the season in this goal fest at the Stade Raymond Kopa. The result from this bottom of the table clash has put both teams level on points at the end of matchday 10 in Ligue 1. The side from the northeast of France had 5 points from 5 draws this season coming into the game. Meanwhile, Angers’ upturn in form with 2 successive wins was abruptly cut short with a loss in their previous game.

The game saw 2 stunning goals from Gameiro and Hunou in the opening 11 minutes. Both teams were trading counterblows at each other, and this signaled a sign of things to come. Angers conceded 21 goals all season before this fixture, and continued to be woeful in defense, conceding an own goal to give Strasbourg their 2nd of the evening.

But the goals didn’t stop there as Diallo doubled visitors’ lead within the hour mark. Angers however didn’t go down easy, as they scored a goal 3 minutes before the end of normal time, to mark a frantic final few minutes to the game.

Doumbia had the chance to score a late equalizer for Le SCO, but opposition keeper Sels denied the Ivorian as Strasbourg celebrated their first win of the season in some style.
