FPL: Top 5 Forwards For Your 2022-23 Season Fantasy Team Based On Last Season

FPL: Top 5 Forwards For Your 2022-23 Season Fantasy Team Based On Last Season

While the forwards usually end the season with some of the highest points totals, last season was far from it. Some of the premium forwards that cost over £11m didn’t really deliver.

Overall it wasn’t really a great season for the forwards, with only 1 forward in the top 10 points winners for last season. That being said, let’s have a look at some of the strikers who really delivered for their team.

5. Ivan Toney- 139 points

12 goals and 5 assists was a good return for him, considering the fact that this was his first season in the premier league. Toney’s role in the team saw him drop deeper and create for the likes of Mbuemo and other players in his team.

Being away from goal saw him have a slow start to the season. Eriksen’s arrival in January was a blessing for him. It allowed Toney to stay further up the field and saw him bag a lot more goals.

Being ranked in the top 5 among forwards when it comes to influence, creativity, and threat ranking in the Premier League. It was a pretty good return, considering he was valued at £6.5m at the start of the season.

4. Michail Antonio- 140 points

Antonio started the season like a house on fire and was every FPL manager’s go-to pick up front. 10 goals and 10 assists is a decent return and a good asset for his price.

West Ham depended on him to get the goals with no other recognized striker, and to an extent, he did deliver. 2.5 shots and 1.4 key passes per 90 show that he is constantly involved in everything positive West Ham did going forward. He underperformed on his xG a bit, but that’s alright considering the number of assists he laid on. A good pick overall.

3. Cristiano Ronaldo- 159 points

Ronaldo just did what Ronaldo does best, score goal after goal. 18 goals that included 2 hattricks. Despite being in an average Man United side, he ended the season with the most goals among all forwards.

If we look at his performances alone, one would say that he had a brilliant season. He also laid off 3 assists for his teammates and won the most bonus points among all forwards last season. He was a great asset in terms of FPL, but his £12.5 valuation hindered his selection among most FPL teams.

2. Diogo Jota- 175 points

Diogo Jota, in his first full season at Liverpool, had a lot of pressure on him, and boy did he deliver. 15 goals and 4 assists while playing through the middle and on the wing, Jota was brilliant last season.

The Portuguese forward took 2.6 shots and made 1.1 key passes per 90, the best thing about this is that majority of his shots come from within the box, and so have all his goals. Apart from this, he also completed 1 dribble a game. He is a player Klopp relies on a lot by and he made 35 appearances last season.

1. Harry Kane- 192 points

Now onto the best forward of the last season. Harry Kane started the season following a huge transfer saga that ultimately didn’t go through. Kane had a slow start to the season, but following the winter break, he came into his own. He ended the season with 17 goals and 11 assists.

His partnership with Son made them the best pair to link up with each other in Premier League history. In terms of influence, creativity, and threat measures of FPL he is ranked as the best forward of the last season. A fabulous season for him to lead his side to a top 4 finish.

Despite the poor showing from most of the forwards last season, they are still very important when getting a big points haul in FPL. Picking the right forwards at the right time may be the difference between winning and losing your FPL league.
